Providing real-time water data through snowpack analysis
Tyr, LLC provides high quality water data in nearly real-time through analysis of your unique drainage, snowpack, vegetation and weather. This allows reservoir operators to manage their water resource based on the entire water shed and not just the partial view in the reservoir.
The snowpack acts like a bank account for water. During the winter, snowfall builds up like a deposit to the account. During the summer, savings are withdrawn as the snow melts. Until now, there has been no real-time way to tell how much is in the account nor how quickly it is declining.
Tyr's service allows you to monitor how much water is stored in the snowpack, how much of the melt will reach your reservoir and help identify abnormalities early.
Tyr's service will help reservoir operators to prepare early for extreme weather events like droughts, low snow years, and an abnormal snowpack.
The data can be used to help hydroelectric facilities optimize their water to maximize cash flows.
Tyr, LLC uses on-site hardware to collect ambient weather data.
The data stream is fed into our cloud based proprietary algorithm. This takes into account, the geography, vegetation, snowpack and weather of each individual drainage.
This ouput is then displayed using Microsoft PowerBI for our clients to interact with.
Founded in 2018, Tyr spent the first year of life creating, testing, and perfecting it's core algorithms. In 2019, Tyr began working with Launch Alaska and the Department of Energy's Anchorage Office to identify prototype deployment partners.
